Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Welcome to PasteCube, a clipboard productivity tool for macOS. This app is a native macOS application developed independently by the CortexGrid (矩见) team, distributed free through the Mac App Store with one optional in-app purchase. We take your data and privacy seriously: clipboard data stays on your Mac, in-app purchase entitlement is verified entirely on-device, and we operate no server of our own.
Data & privacy statement
- Local read & storage: The system clipboard is read solely to display history on this Mac. Text, links, code, and rich-text records are persisted as a JSON file inside the app’s sandbox container; images are saved as high-quality JPEG (quality 0.9) in the same container, which no third-party app can access.
- Nothing is uploaded: PasteCube has no account system and no developer-operated server. All history and images stay on this Mac and never touch a third-party server.
- No ads · no tracking: The app contains no ads, no behavioral telemetry, no crash reporting, and no third-party privacy-collection SDKs. Its privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares no tracking and no collected data types.
- Sensitive content is skipped: Clipboard types marked concealed or transient (org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType, TransientType, AutoGeneratedType) and 1Password’s proprietary type are deliberately ignored and never enter your history — credentials copied from a password manager are not recorded.
- No Accessibility permission: The app neither requests nor uses the macOS Accessibility permission. It synthesizes no keyboard events, injects no input, and never reads or manipulates other apps’ UI elements. Activating an item only writes it back to the system clipboard and returns focus to the app you were using — you press ⌘V yourself to paste.
- Full data control: Clear all history (including on-disk images) anytime via “⋯ → Clear Clipboard…”, or revoke consent beyond the first-launch gate. Deletion removes the data from your Mac for good.
Purchase & in-app purchase data
PasteCube is free to download, and PasteCube Pro is unlocked through a one-time in-app purchase (a StoreKit non-consumable product). Here is how purchase-related data is handled:
- Payment details never reach us: The entire purchase flow is handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not collect, receive, or store your name, Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or any payment information.
- No server, no receipt upload: Pro entitlement is verified entirely on your device — the app reads StoreKit’s local transaction records and validates their signatures. Nothing is uploaded to any developer server. We operate no backend for receipt validation.
- What is cached locally: The app stores only a single boolean in macOS preferences (UserDefaults) indicating whether Pro is unlocked, used to render the UI on the first frame. The real entitlement always comes from StoreKit’s verification result, and reverts to locked automatically if the purchase is refunded or revoked. This cache contains no transaction identifiers and no personal information.
- Why the app has network access: The app declares outbound network access solely so StoreKit can talk to the App Store (fetching product info, completing a purchase, restoring purchases). It accesses no other network resources and makes no analytics or telemetry requests.
- Restore Purchase: Clicking “Restore Purchase” re-syncs your purchase history through Apple’s APIs. Apple performs this; we are not involved and gain no account information from it.
System permissions
PasteCube runs under App Sandbox and is distributed through the Mac App Store. It requests only a small set of permissions, each tied to a specific feature. Missing or revoking a permission only disables that feature and does not affect the rest:
- Clipboard access: reads the system clipboard to display history locally — the core function of a clipboard tool.
- Network access: used only for StoreKit in-app purchase (fetching products, purchasing, restoring). The sandbox blocks outbound traffic by default, and without this the paywall could not reach the App Store. The app itself accesses no other network resources.
- No Accessibility permission requested: the app does not ask for macOS Accessibility, synthesizes no keyboard events, and never reads or manipulates other apps’ UI elements. Pasting back happens purely through the system clipboard.
Independent app statement
This app is a native macOS application developed independently by the CortexGrid (矩见) team. It is not affiliated with any third-party clipboard tool, including tools with the same or similar name on other platforms.
